for what ever reason, alot of my folders are appearing to
be grayed out. what is the cause of this?

Hi Tom
Files and folders can appear to be greyed out to indicate they have been set
as a hidden file. These are only be displayed when you have selected to show
hidden files and folders in folder options.

no, im afraid not. when they are hidden and viewable,
they appear faded. these are gray, meaning dark.

In "Folder Options> View" did you make changes to show hidden, system and
protected folders? Explorer will use a "grayed" folder icon for folders
that fall into those categories.

that was the first thing i thought of. i also tried
accessing them to see if it is because i dont access them
frequently and i removed the read only attribute from
them. doesnt work. make no mistake, when they are
hidden etc, they are faded. when i say gray, i mean
gray, as in dark, as in almost black
