I want to design a graph that compares data from 2003 to
2004. I want to compare 2003 to 2004 monthly and there are
4-5 columns of data that i want to compare to the previous
year. For example, new patients in January compared to new
patients last year. I have 5 categories, n new patient,
surgeries, etc. that i want to compare to last year. Can i
do that on one graph or do i have to do it on more than
one graph? Thank you

It is possible to do on 1 graph. If you separate our data by year and category, then select a line graph with 2 axes, you can then nominate the same y axis (chart options, axes, deselect the second y axis) and nominate the different areas for the x axes (source data, secondary x axis labels).

Say you have the 02/03 data in the range a1:m3 where B1:M1 are the dates and the 03/04 data in the range A5:M7 where B5:M5 are the dates, you should be able to get the data for the 2 years on the same graph, but have the different years on the top and bottom X axes.

email me on (e-mail address removed) if you want a small example spreadsheet.
