Graphs that have been imported from excel into my power point presentation
that appear bright blue (for example) print out dark purple instead. Why, and
how can I fix this? It is not a problem with the printer.

Both Excel and Powerpoint use *only* RGB colors, nothing else.

Pure RGB blue, when converted to CMYK, nearly always turns into a royal purple
color.

Inkjet printers are all CMYK, so the driver and any associated color management
system are responsible for converting PPT's RGB blue into something that looks
correct on printouts.

Try adjusting the printer and/or color management settings.
