i recently installed the ATI driver update for windows
XP, and when i restarted my computer, the graphics became
worse than before : like it became blurier as if there
was no graphic card at all.

I...uh...hate to say this, but ATi driver updates work just fine when done
correctly. You need to follow the installation instructions on the ATi web
site really carefully.

Here's what to do: Go to the ATi web site and print the detailed driver
install instructions. Also read any documentation that accompanies the
update, to see if there are issues that may affect your particular system
configuration. Now download the updated driver.

Next thing to do is to completely uninstall your current video driver and
any other ATi software you have installed. Reboot. Windows will detect your
card and install its own driver. You should now have a perfectly acceptable
image on your monitor. Now install the latest driver, and you'll be fragging
before you know it.

Along with all your other problems this is probably indicative of a serious
problem with your system which you may resolve by reinstalling xp if a
repair does not work

but the problem is it's for my notebook. and i downloaded
the driver update from microsoft.com(windows update). is
there any way i could just delete the upgrade i
installed? in which folder are they all downloaded in?
how do i get the original driver back?

Windows XP allows you to 'roll back' to the previous driver. In Device
Manager, double-click on the device in question and select the Driver tab.
Click on the Roll Back Driver button.
