Help !
I got my powercolor x1950 pro AC2 the other day and have had nothing but issues with it. When i play a game i constantly get low frames, even if i tone down the settings :(

I've done what everyone from other forums has told me and nothing has changed.

What i've done:

- Used driver cleaner pro, in safe mode, to get rid of any nivida drivers on my system. None were found.

- got a new PSU (other one was the minimum of recommended) i got an Arctic 600w mobo (90£ worth!)

- updated to catylst 8.1 (newest out)

- updated motherboard. Didn't seem to be many updates, though.

Now my only thoughts is that the card is faulty.

Is there anything you guys possibly recommend that would test something, or any suggestions of what could be the cause.

I'm pretty Pis*** and need this sorted. No wonder why people chose nvidia over ati, eh.

Thanks for reading and hope you can help!

Regards.

When you say low frame rates, how low exactly?

It might be worth using something like 3D Mark to benchmark your graphics card against other similar systems. That will let you know if there is something seriously wrong :)

I get about 14-22 frames playing World of warcraft and about 15 playing oblivion (inside).

I'll take your advice and do that 3d mark.

That is weird.

It could be overheating I suppose. Have you checked the temperatures, that the HSF is seated properly and that there is nothing blocking the airflow?

Nope. I ran the disk, then played wow in a period of about 15 mins. I doubt its overheating. It also has a bit artic cooler on it :/

Yeah but wow isn't really a taxing game is it...:p

Check the temperatures, and run 3D mark 06.

If it is overheating, then 3D mark is the program to make it.

Well then again it could be your taxing your system too much... what did you say your resolution was?

well i had a 7900GT not too long ago, and in oblivion (everything high/medium, medium grass) i got about 15-20 fps outdoors. and about 25-30 indoors. at 1280x1024

I guess you sent it back?

I'm going to send mine back and get a replacement.
I've done all the testing i can, nothing has changed.

The company have really bad support

This card is aimed to run crysis at medium/high and it cant' even do IL2 sturmovik on 20 :(

Also, i noticed that my games were pretty choppy.

PS. I rebuilt my system to XP pro x64 to make sure i get a clean check and that didn't do anything either.

never trust City link with parcels!

Ah, no i still have to card, but i upgraded to 2x 8800GTs - so no reason to have a 7900GT in my system :D

and seeing you specs, which are pretty much the same, i can tell you that probly wouldnt have had decent frames in Crysis at Med/high. It was playable for me, but im using a much more powerful card, i dont imagine that the 7900GT would do very good in Crysis.

its a shame your card is giving you trouble, perhaps its time for a newer card?

The reason why i got the card is because it has 256-bit memory in it. Its slightly better than the 8600gt and has a free cooler on it. So i really wont be better off going nvidia if i wanted the best gaming power, but i really think i could get away with maybe a 8600gt Overclock.

I installed the same card but running under XP Pro with no problems so far . I am using the Omega 3.8.241 drivers though .
Before installing the card I followed the instructions fro the ATI site ( see pic) then used the Driver Cleaner Pro prog .
Try uninstalling everything and reinstalling . I reboot after I have uninstalled before installing .

I dont know whether my card will support the omega. It probably will seen as it uses an ATI chipset.

I've just installed a 8500gt and it isnt choppy, but the frames are randomly ****e. If i look at a wall, they're sky high. When i move away from it, it drops and randomly stay at 20 and it can randomly drop to 8-15 in a certain areas, then it goes to 20 again, and basically repeats itself.

(This was all taken at the beginning of oblivion, before you get out of the sewers)

Will i need to ugrade the BIOS seen as im getting technical difficulties?
