graphics issue

I'm having a problem and I think it is related to my graphics card. I have
Saphire radeon 9600pro /128MB/ on Asus p4s800d-x board and 512MB RAM.

For example, when trying to play call of duty 2, I can only play
it in safe mode and when I try to change the resolution to any other value
the game freezes/even with directx7/. So, trying to find out what could be
the problem I saw in conflicts/sharing it shows radeon9600series and Sis
graphics chipset on 4 different requests so I'm not sure is it OK or not.

I have updated the BIOS drivers /all the settings are now on
default values except agp128 instead pci64 in chipset settings/, ati
catalyst /without the CC/ so I'm not sure how to get the best of this
configuration.

I saw that AtiTool program can not tune radeon 9600 series, and I
really don't want to get into that, but does anyone have an idea?

Thanks.

Isn't call of duty a DX9 game. You only list DX7. Thats one thing to check.
Also look in the COD readme for the minimum and recomended specs and sere
how you computer and graphic card. Make sure you use the latest drivers for
your card. Check the COD web site for any listed problems. Some games have
problems with some graphic cards. Set COD to very low resolution to see if
you can get it to run at all. Once you get it running you can increase the
resolution. Also turn off all eye candy in the game until you sort it out,
anti aliasing and so on

Latest drivers from ATI won't install unless DX9 is already present.

of course I have dx9 but game has an option runnin' with dx7 or dx9. i have
all the latest drivers, now trying omega 'cos nothing else seems to be
working. Game runs ok in safe mode /* lowest resolution / but when changing
to any higher resolution it freezes almost every time. I also updated sis agp
drivers but the problem remained the same.

Are you saying the game runs ok in normal mode when set to the lowest
resolution or are you saying it runs in safe mode with lowest resolution?
They are two different things and the answer makes a difference to how you
proceed. If it runs in normal mode then the slow downs are because your
graphic card isn't powerful enough to run the game in higher resolutions.
Have you checked the minimum and recomended specs?

Sorry,
In safe mode with lowest resolution.
IMHO, Radeon 9600 Pro, P4 2.8, 512 RAM, 4GB free space meets the
requirements. Actually, on my sisters comp, with sempron 2600 and radeon
9600, game works just fine, so thats what's confusing me
