After installing sp for windows 2000, the www.msn.com page will not appear.
All the graphics have a red 'x'.

If i go to cnn.com it looks perfect. So do other web sites.

Some of msn's text will appear.

Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

Thanks, Bruce

Bruce, is there a possibility that more was done then just a sp install?

The symptoms you are describing sound very much like a tampered with host
file.

A host file can be used to "filter" popups and advertisements by basically
having the browser look back at itself for the images, rather then download
them from a remote server. Microsoft has taken to storing it's image files
on servers that also serve popup and ad advertising, which makes the use of
a host file or other webfiltering technique a little dicey.

The host file to my knowledge has not been tampered with. The condition is
also getting contagious. There are 3 more PC's in our office with the same
condition.

Last Friday they all could go to msn.com. Today there are now 4 PC's that
show the red 'x', and it seems to take forever to display those red 'x's.
All other web sites on all 4 PC's are ok.

I know for a fact that these other 3 PC's have not been modified in any way.
The user's have no idea about computer systems and are barely computer
literate.
