Graphics don't display in normal mode

When I open a powerpoint file, none of the graphics display. Just the test.
Even if I open a blank presentation and draw a line, the line does not
display in normal mode. All of the graphics are visible in Slide sorter mode
and in slide show mode.

Rebooting doesn't help. Exiting other apps doesn't help. I reinstalled
powerpoint and it helped initially, but now the problem is back.
