Hi
i have just tried to install a new Radeon 9600XT, 128mb
AGP graphics card into my system but it will not accept it.
my mother board is a GIGABYTE GA-7DXR+ will this new card
work with this mother board? and if so what should i be
doing? do i have to change anything in the BIOS?

Remove the new card and uninstall the old card drivers
install the new card

The 9600 is an 8X AGP card.
Your motherboard only supports up to 4X AGP
 
if it is true that your card is 8x AGP and your motherboard supports only 4x AGP, be very careful. the voltage requirements for 8x AGP are different than for a 4X AGP. you could fry the card or the mainboard. i recommend you double check that information before you proceed.
