Hi all,
I have a AMD 3000+ 939-pin processor with asus a8n-e motherboard
and geforce 6200 graphics card with turbocache.I usually download lots
of software from internet and my pc will be running day & night. I like
to put my system in maximum power save mode such way it consumes
minimal power. In power save mode only processor, network card, HDD
should be on and alll other devices especially my graphics card should
me in stand by mode. Is ther any bios or control panel option to do
this?

If you want to download stuff day and night, you can't expect to put half of
your system into hibernation just because you don't think it should be
working.. if you want to save power, turn off the monitor and knock a couple
of degrees off of your room thermostat..

You could look in your BIOS and see. And yes the operating system can
put the monitor in standby. The issue is whether the software you are
using keeps the system awake! So the sure answer is to do as Malke said
and just press the power button on the monitor.

hi mike,
Turning off monitor, i have been doing this for 7 years to save power.
Today most of the system devices have power save feature for ex my
AMD-3000+ has cool-n-quiet support in which processor runs at low cpu
frequency & voltage to save power and also to avoid excessive heat.
Likewise i like to know any other devices can be put in power save
mode.

While your system is processing stuff, it will use whatever resource is
required.. maybe during the quieter moments, it will automatically reduce
it's power consumption level anyway..

If you go to Control Panel's Power options, you can elect for some bits to
go into standby mode, but that is as good as it gets..
