I want to install an ATI Radeon 7000 on my new e-Machine
T2542 that has on-board video. I've searched the Internet
for installation tips and have read several accounts of
problems that can occur in attempt to do this--i.e.,
following the usual "plug n play" procedures can lead to
system hangs, error messages, etc. The problems I've read
may be resolved now with SP1, but I need to know.

I'd appreciate a response from anyone who knows if
installing a new graphics card in a Windows XP system
with on-board video needs to be done in a certain way. If
so, please post specific instructions or a URL that has
them.

Thanks to all who respond.

First find out if the ATI Radeon is an AGP card. Next go into the
BIOS for your machine and it should have a disable option for your
video card. It may ask you if your card is an AGP or PCI. (I am
presuming that your motherboard has an AGP slot in addition to the
built in video card.) Then see if XP loads the proper drivers, if not
then download from the Radeon site.
