My desktop system was running quiet and all of a sudden I'm hearing loud fan
noise, so I open the case and it appears my Quadro FX 4500 card's fan is
running at 100% and I have no display.
Is my graphics card toasted? I don't have another one to try

Usually it's a fan failure that causes the card to go...
but who knows what happened.
You will have to get another card and hope that that's all it was

Remove the card, blow out any dust that may be present, look for any obvious
signs of overheating (burnt or discoloration on the printed circuit board).
Also hold the card up to your nose and sniff, if there is a strong burnt
smell then most likely the board is toast.

If none of the above, reseat the card and power up and see if the card still
works.

Why ask HERE? This is a purely hardware problem and has absolutely
NOTHING to do with the OS.

Ask elsewhere.

Just ignore the stupid turd. He is of NoConsequence but thinks he is the
group administrator - he isn't. Your question is welcome by everyone else.

This IS a hardware newsgroup.
Don't be such a twat.

Yes, a hardware group that deals with hardware AND it's interaction
with the OS. Pure hardware questions don't belong here.

You say they don't, the rest of the world says they do. That makes you
wrong.

cheers
