Hi
At the moment I'm using an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 256Mb (AGP). And I'm thinking of buying a Radeon X1950 Pro 512Mb. Is this a much better card as it's less than half the price I paid for the 9800.
Thanks for any advice.
Arnie

Cheers! ItsMe. No problem, everything running fine. Just wandered if I would notice any improvement by switching to the X1950. Thanks for the reviews - I'll read them. Is there a direct comparison site anywhere maybe for viewing their performance bars side by side?
Thanks

Have you tried googling to see? :)

Whats the rest of your spec?

Providing the rest of your pc is not too slow the 1950 will blow the 9800 out of the water. :)

If my memory serves correctly the 1950s all recommend at least a 450W psu and a 6 pin connector. The adaptor will likely come in the package, but if your psu is not powerful enough then it is a no go.

What is your psu? :)

Good point about the machine spec. It's an Athlon 2800 (2.08Mhz I think), 1.5Gb RAM, I'll check out the PS for the 450w rating and I don't know what the Motherboard is. Is that crucial too or is the CPU enough?

Thanks for everybody's help.

Arnie.

The full spec is Athlon 2800, 1.5Gb RAM, motherboard is Gigabyte Technology K7 Triton nForce2. The PSU is only 350w, so if I upgrade that to 450w and based on the above spec PC is the X1950 a better bet?

Thanks

Arnie.

Indeed it will. In fact it will blast your 9800 out the water, and then deficate on it.

Are you comfortable changing PSUs?

Good News PotGuy! Thank you.

Yes, I've change one before and didn't have any problems, so I don't thnk it'll be a problem. Can't stuff any more RAM in though. I've got 4 slots with 512 in each but only 3 are recognised. All the chips are OK as I've swapped them round and they all register independently. I think this is something due to the motherboard is it? Too old to recognise 2Gb - is that right?

Cheers!

Arnie

I believe it is a 3gb limit, not 1.5gb, but I have no experience with nforce 2s so I can't say any more.
