Hi,
I have a BFG Geforce 6800 OC. When I boot up my PC it shows the usual POST
screen etc and up to the point where there is the windows XP loading screen,
then after that (where usually you see the windows login screen) the monitor
says "No signal detected"

Here's the weird thing. I put it in another computer and it works fine.
The even weired thing is I did not change or do anything to my computer to
give me any reason why this should be happening.

I've looked around the net but not really found any solutions, I'm hoping
somebody here might have heard of this problem and might know how to fix it.

I had all the latest drivers and everything.

I'd rather not format at this time so I'm hoping there is another solution

Thank you

Driver problem.
Boot into safe mode and uninstall the driver.
If you had configured the driver wrong you might be able to
boot into normal mode too, by holding in the <CTRL> key
while the driver loads. AT least, I "think" it's the <CTRL>
key, a Google search should find this info.

So it worked previously? How long?
If you really didn't "do anything", was it windows? Windows
likes to "do anything" on it's own, for example if you have
Automatic Updates enabled?

What power supply make/model/etc is in your system and what
other parts?

Don't try the latest drivers then, try an older one.
Preferribly one from a prior generation. For example if you
have version 71.12, try a 6x.xx version, not a 7x.xx
version.

I have just had a similar problem when I upgraded a PC from Win 98se to Win
XP. One monitor worked fine, but another would not. Eventually I solved
it by hitting F8 as Windows was about to load, this brings up the screen
where you can opt for Safe Mode etc. There was an entry there which said
Enable VGA Mode (or words to that effect). I selected this and it has
worked fine ever since.

Cheers, I'll have a go at this soon!

Had it for about 4 months. I do have automatic update enabled so that may
have something to do with it.

400w PSU JEANTECH or something like that, I'm sure that is plenty power even
for a monster like the 6800 OC.

I should point out I have not done any tampering at all with the card

You're sure a 400W generic is plenty of power?
Last generic I threw away was "350W", was inferior to most
200W PSU.

awesome. sorted it. Did F8, VGA mode was then able to uninstall then
reinstall latest drivers

works beautifully!!!

thanks a lot
