Searching through the web, I didn't find any graphiccards with GDI+
hardware accelerated support. Let try to wait here to see if any community
member has got to know such products.

Far from an expert but seeing LongHorn it looks like to me that :
- the 3D market "killed" 2D acceleration
- the trend is then to use 3D acceleration for 2D application (as 2D is just
a particular case) to avoid duplicating efforts in two separate pipelines
- it looks like LongHorn will use 3D acceleration support including for the
desktop
