Hello I own an old ibook. it has graphic issues I turn it on and you
can hear the harddrive turn on and beging to read, but sometimes it
takes me about 4 hardboots to get the screen to view, and even then
when I begin to navigate the desktop I get vertical lines and then the
entire screen is covered w/ these lines and then I have shutdown and
reboot, but it will take me forever to get back on the screen and when
I do it does the same thing again. I have a lot of infor on this
computer and I would like to salvage it can someone help me?

This group is really about printers, not computers. You would have
better luck on an Apple computer group.
Off hand it sounds like your battery or power supply is too weak to
support the screen resolution. Try another battery. Borrow one if
necessary to check my theory out. I think an AC powered supply would be
better right now though. If you can get it powered up, you can download
your files.
If for some reason the screen is bad or the video adapter has failed,
you can use an optional video display to view the contents.
If all else failed, you could pull the hard drive and slave it to
another computer so all your data would be available to you.
There is hope. Start with the power supply issue.
