Had problem with Graph8 in Powerpoint97, and then upgraded
to Powerpoint 2000.

Now getting a Graph9.exe error when editing charts in very
large ppt files. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Can you give us the specific error message?

Tried re-registering graph, didn't help, nor did detect
and repair. After graph9.exe is ended in Task Mgr, PPT
locks up, and i am unable to end the application unless it
is ended in Task Mgr, as well.

hm. Have you tried reregistering graph? Don't know if that will help or not,
but it's worth a try. Instructions at
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00236.htm

You might also try running a Detect and Repair from PPT's help menu.

Error message is: Graph9.exe generated a program error.
Then PC is locked up, and graph9.exe shows as using 99%
processor in Task Manager.

Thanks for your help!

Man. I can't find a thing about this in Technet, nor in Google Groups.
And I'm stumped!

Only other things I can think to try are the following:

Change your hardware acceleration. (I know, it sounds weird.) Instrux at
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00129.htm

Update your video drivers.

Make sure you have a printer driver available to the machine (i.e., not
on a network) http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00034.htm for info.
(This suggestion's a definite long shot.)

Make sure you have turned off Fast Saves and done the other stuff listed
in the FAQ00034 link.

You might also try booting in Safe Mode and see if the same thing
happens. If it doesn't, it's probably a driver or software conflict of
some sort.

Sorry I don't have anything more concrete for you, kev.
