Hello all. Here's the data:

Row..............Column A (x axis)........Column B (y axis)
1.........................1/1/04.........................$50
2
3.........................2/1/04.........................$100
4
5.........................3/1/04.........................$150

I select A1:B5 and run the chart wizard and it graphs column b agains
time. The problem is that it includes the spacer columns as holes i
the data, resulting in a very up (populated) and dow
(blanks/unpopulated) line graph.

I want to indicate to the chartwizard that the data appears in ever
other row. I thought of using the mod function in the chartwizar
"data" tab, but couldn't make it work

What version of Excel? I tried this in XL2003 and it just ignored the blank
rows.

If the cells are truly blank, select the chart, select Options from the
Tools menu, anc click on Chart. Click the Interpolate option for Treat
Blanks As.

If the apparent blanks are really empty strings ("") returned by a
formula, the above will have no effect. Replace "" in the formula with
NA(), which produces an ugly error in the cheet. This error doesn't
chart, however, and you can hide it with conditional formatting.
