Grap highlighted text in combobox

I've got at combobox containing far too much text to be shown, even
with quite a wide list size.

So I want the the entire text of the highlighted row in the combox to
be shown in a textbox. But how do I grap this highlighted text, when
the row has not yet actually been selected?
