GPO for groups not working

Hi, I created several groups in an specific OU, then I configured several
policies (each for one software package) and set the appropiate securty
("read"). I created several groups for each software package and make my
workstations a member of each group but it doesn't work apparantly. If i
"move" a workstation directly into the OU all the software described in the
policies are installed correctly. Somebody has an idea what's wrong?

I understand that. But i need to store the groups in an OU and that is what's not working. Example: My workstation(1) is a member of the group IT-computer but and stored in the OU building_1. The group IT-computers is stored in the OU IT. I create a policy to install specific software for all members in the OU IT. my workstation is not applied but my other workstation (2) is stored in the OU IT and is not a member of the group IT-computers and does get the software installed. I can't seem to figure out why!
