GPO and access to specific directory

Hi All,

I have a Mandatory GPO that prohibits access to the hard
drive. One of the programs we use requires all users to
right temporary .ini files to the win32 directory. With
the way I have the policy this is not possible. Is there
a way through the GPO to allow the users to read/write the
files but still not allow them to see the C: drive.

The program does not have the ability to change the
location of their temporary files.

You need to configure "Software restriction" policies in your GPO to enable
permissions for the clients to modify that certain path.

I was looking for "Software restriction" option in GP and I can not find it.

PLease tell me where it is or what are you talking about?

Hi Paul,

You can use the following GPO to hide the drives:

[User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows
Explorer]

"Hide these specified drives in My Computer"

You could further hide other drives if required using an customized adm:
