Government secrests -> find the real download links

Susan Bugher

The SBA *used to* have a bunch of apps that could be downloaded - see:

http://www.sba.gov/library/sharewareroom.html

#19 DOS/Win 3.1 Starting Your Business
#20 DOS/Win 3.1 Financing Your Business
#21 DOS/Win 3.1 Managing Your Business
#22 DOS/Win 3.1 Marketing Your Business
#23 DOS/Win 3.1 Running Your Business

billit28.zip is the app that I was trying to find. . . it was
recommended in ACF a while back. . . financing your business actually
has 3 similar web pages:

http://www.sba.gov/library/sharewareroom-financing.html
http://www.sba.gov/shareware/finfile.html
http://www.sba.gov/library/share/sharewareroom-financing.html

The download links are_the_same/don't_work on all of the pages.

I sent an email about two weeks age - got a couple of thank you
responses - then *nada* - and no change on the web page.

None of this is any big deal - it's just pissing me off. . .

Would someone like to ferret out this government *secret* and tell me
where they've hidden the files.

billit28.zip is the app that I was trying to find. . .

http://cd.textfiles.com/drsharewaregold/business/billit28.zip ?
Description from the "VENDOR" file:

THE BILLIT PROGRAM Version 2.8
Invoice/Statement/Purchase Order. Automatic numbering
including page numbering. Customer and Item description
databases. Very easy to use program. Laser or Dot Matrix.

Granted, it's not on the SBA site, but it seems to be the file you're
looking for...

true - turns out to be shareware by WESTCOAST SOFTWARE. . .
doesn't look like it's ever been free. . .

I appreciate the help - I can cross that one off the acf prog list now. :)

There are some spreadsheet apps on the SBA page - including
As Easy As - IIRC someone said not too long ago that they couldn't find
that one. . . anyway, thought I'd check them out but. . . no working
links makes that a bit difficult. . . :(

grumble, grumble. grumble ;)

I might have found a site for As Easy As...it kind of appears to be a
BBS thing, so I'm currently waiting to get a password from them. If I
find it, though, I'll put it on my web space and post a link here.

I know, some people just have to make things difficult. :)

At this point, I'd recommend not holding your breath...the site, which
claims "you should have access in less than five minutes" of
registering, hasn't gotten to me in the past twelve hours. so I'm a
bit skeptical.

Sorry if I got your hopes up.

hee, hee, it's a race - the tortoise vs. the tortoise - if I ever hear
back from the SBA *I'll* post.
