The met office came under scrutiny today amidst allegations it took a bribe from the government to suggest the summer of 2009 would be a scorcher , thus pouring millions of pounds back into the countries economy instead of fuelling Europes warmer countries. Italy, France and Spain have reported 10% or above deficits in UK investment in its tourism economy.
A UK met office spokesman said today that unseasonal low pressure drifting down from the Arctic had correlated with higher than usual high pressure from El nino on the equatorial belt and this had caused weather balloons to sink 2000 mts lower , thus giving a false reading that suggested a considerable warmer summer than could have been expected.
Cornwall and Devon local government councils have had to employ hundreds of extra people to man there tourism websites to repel or appease irrate holidaymakers...
