Gotta Love that system restore. It has saved my Bacon on SEVERAL times.

However I have a short statement and then a question,

I am what my wife calls a bit of a neat freak as far as my computer
goes, in that I don't like wasted space even though I have ample room
left. I Often use the Built in windows disk cleanup utility, and in turn
use the "more options" part that handles 'system restore'.

My understanding is that by using this, it will delete all but the last
restore point. Ok.. That's fine.

I was just wondering if there was anyway or any place, I could define
for it to delete all but the oh ..say last "THREE" restore points?

I know it runs naturally usually once a day. But I do a lot of
installing and uninstalling of software. And after all is said and done,
and I do my disk cleanup, it would be nice to know that my last 3
restore points are still there.

I'm running winXP Home, 512 megs of Ram, and an 80gigHD on my laptop.

Thanks for any comments in advance.

Hi Michael,

You have little control over restore points. As you said, you can delete all
but the last or, you can disable it, that's about it.

I used to love systwm restore. But, after a major crash I replaced my hard
drive and now Systwm restored is greyed out. Does anyone have any ideas?
thanks, Ellen

Hi Ellen,

You may have it disabled. R-click My Computer and look at the "System
Restore" tab. Un-check the "Turn off System Restore on all drives, if it's
checked. Turn it on for whatever drives you want.

I too, have saved my butt with system restore on this XP pro machine.

On my old win98se machine, the screensavers have disappeared. Is there
anything on 98 similar to 'restore' to get them back.

Brings up another question. If I do a complete disk install, does that mess
up the files there on the hd? I understand the updates that I'm sure I have
in the system are not available anymore so a reload would just leave me with
an older system than I have now? The screensavers aren't worth it but I
assume if they are missing, other things may be too.

Hi Glenn,

All depends on what kind of XP installation you have. Do you have an XP CD,
an OEM restore disk or, a partition on your hard drive for restore?
