I just bought the required s-video cable to connect my ATI 9600 Pro to
my TV (the goal is to be able to watch a MPG or SVCD directly from my
computer to my TV without having to burn it to CDRs first). I think I
can break down my question in to parts:
1) What resolution and colour quality should I choose. I normally
have my desktop at 1024 X 764 (32 Bit colour )but I am assuming that
this is probably not the best choice for TV viewing... I think it
might be better to use 640 X 480 (because of the TV rez limitations)
but I don`t even think we can lower it that much on the 9600 Pro...
2) In the display settings, how to I "switch" the display from the
desktop to the TV screen? Ideally, I guess, I would like the TV to
mirror what I see on my desktop (or vice-versa). If this is not
possible (or required too much processing power), I don't mind if the
desktop goes black while the TV display is on as long as there is an
easy way to re-acquire it on the desktop when I am done watching the
MPEG clip or movie...
Instructions, advises, comments and recommendations are greatly
appreciated! Andre
PS: I`ll simply use RCA cables and my sound card to deal with
sound...
