Each fails to run since installing Vista.
Each state that either Flash Player is not current (I updated), or
JavaScript is not enabled (it is.)

Are there other settings that need to be addressed?

Thanks

You need to ensure you are using the 32 bit version of IE7 and then install
Flash Player.

To Get Flash Player Working:

Install Flash Player (or so you think! (Go to YouTube and follow the prompts)

Vista (32bit) go to C:\Windows\System32\Macromed folder

Vista(64bit) go to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed folder

Open the folder and right click on ‘FlashUtil9b.exe’, then left click ‘Run
as Administrator.’ The Flash Player installer should now start and once it
completes, Flash Player should work and appear on the uninstall or change
program list.

This issue is related to how Windows Vista's security features prevent
applications from changing registry settings (even if you are logged in as an
administrator) you must explicitly allow programs to make certain changes to

Minor correction:
Right-click to Run as Administrator

Why are there no warnings that the installation was halted even though I
answered all the installation security questions with YES or ALLOW?

After installing Flash Player per the method mentioned and restarting as the
program suggestion after successful installation, I went back to Google to
run a video. Now it states that some program wants to run outside of
Protected Mode. I assumed this was Flash Player and said ALLOW.

The warning dutifully went away and then nothing. No video will play.

What is going on?

I had trouble with Flashplayer and shockwave as well, until I disabled User
Account Control
Then I could install everything...
Just very frustrating, that we have to do that...

Basically, if UAC is on, video doesn't work.
if UAC is off, it works.

Who dreamed up this security measure?
I thought video was the future of MS, Google, etc.

Actually, all I am saying is, that when UAC is off - installation procedures
are a heck of a lot easier. :)

People have different experiences with UAC. For some it's no problem - for
others a pain.

I've got no problems here..

Of course I use Firefox, but I've also used IE a bit and flash worked
there too.

For me, it's a little of both.
