When I use the erase tracks function, the computer
doesn't register that I have the google toolbar? I have
tried reinstalling the tool bar, but it still won't pick
it up?

I believe I have seen this reported before.

Can anyone else reply to this thread if the erase tracks feature DOES
recognize the presence of the Google toolbar? I've been assuming this is a
glaring bug that Microsoft will be aware of, but maybe it is more subtle
than I am thinking.

I have the google toolbar installed. It detects and
erases the history for the toolbar every time.

Are there multiple versions of the toolbar? I wonder if Tabitha has the
newest and greatest? I use the deskbar, myself.

I see a site which mentions versions running from 2.0.113 to 2.0.114.8

Yes, on my PC the Google toolbar is being recognised by
Microsoft AntiSpyware , as other software. The Explorer
function works perfectly, as do all of the
antispywarefunctions. (okay, a few minor bugs, scheduled
scanning rus two days earlier, and when sending info to
Spynet, AntiSpyware wants I.E. to be closed, but I.E is
OFF! This BUG was NOT present in the first Beta-version,
but it appeared in the recently upgradeversion!) J.P.vdn

Thanks. There have been a number of versions of the Google toolbar, and my
present thinking is that this issue is version related.

Seems to me that the Google toolbar IS spyware. Is there
any such thing as 'good' spyware?

That's how it works. If you choose to use that facility, then presumably
you've just defined a piece of spyware you like. This illustrates a problem
with the terminology.

When you installed Google Toolbar, you were given the choice of WITH
ADVANCED FEATURES and WITHOUT ADVANCED FEATURES.

The WITH ADVANCED FEATURES was explained to also included anonymized data
being sent back to Google for Google purposes. If you did not want that
activity you were to select WITHOUT ADVANCED FEATURES.

Uninstall the toolbar and install it again - you will see the choice. Read
the included information to learn about the two versions.

I chose WITHOUT.
