google error

We are unable to do any searches on the internet. We get
a message that says Google has been compromised. No other
search engine works either. The instructions given do not
work. It says we have to remove Google from a list we
cannot even find. Have done a restore, downloaded spybot,
cleaned up cookies, did a disk cleanup and still no
solution. I need directions to fix this problem

You have been hijacked by the Coolwebsearch parasite.

Get and unpack the following and run the CWShredder.exe.

NOTE: if you can not get to these sites then your HOSTS file has been

Get and update SpyBot Search and Destroy through its online update function.

Ad-Aware is also a good "adware" remover.

Get a good HOSTS file to stop theses nasties.

SpywareBlaster also stops these nasties.

Keep these things up to date as new nasties come along just like
viruses/worms.

it was specifically the CWS hijacker?
