Hi, for some reason windows defender is blocking google desktop as a start
up program and I cant launch it either. For reference if you have not seen
this, this is the software explorer and it has the program and says if it is
clasified or not and some reason it says it is not classified. But that isnt
the problem. When I click on it I cant choose to enable it so either it is a
probelm with vista or something special I need to do for desktop. Also I have
installed the new version. I posted this in the google desktop help group and
they said I need to do this with windows defender
http://desktop.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=12645 but can't find
that option.

Hi Jon,
Do you received notification that a startup item has been blocked? If yes,
you should also see the icon in the notification tray that will allow you to
right-click and allow what it has blocked.
Or you can select to view allowed/blocked programs. Selecting that will
bring up the System Configuration Utility>Startup tab. In the bottom left
corner, you should see an option to "restore blocked items". Click that and
you can uncheck from it the items you want to start.
Note though that if it's in the blocked area, there is incompatibility with
Vista so you might not see the program run properly. You should check for
solutions using Windows Vista's solution finder.

Regards,

Hi, I have the icon on my taskbar but I do not have that option. I got to the
system configuration by other means using msconfig and I checked the startup
tab and I do not have that choice.
