Hello,

Thank you for your time here.

I have two XP pro machines connected to an AD DC with RRAS. ok.. all is
fine until the one PC (which is a notebook) can no longer see the rest of the
network but still use active directory and access the internet.

I decided to open "my network places" and look to see if i can see the
entire network from my other Desktop, well... I can see the icons for the
domain and then click on that and see all of my tiny network. The problem is
if I click on the notebook it will not let me view/open/access that machine.
this situation is identical if you go to the notebook and click on the rest
of the network you can see the icons and not access the rest of the network
through here. so I checked the mapped drives and network folders all connect
fine i can get anyfolder from the server.

So I decided that I would remove the notebook from the domain and rejoin it.
So I did. after reboot Next I could no longer logon to the notebook with the
credentials i had been using all along. so I used the XP admin account and
logged on fine. But this was now a workgroup and I wanted to rejoin it. I
tried and no luck so dummy me decided to do the network wizard and add
another work group named MShome.
Fine... I rebooted and then I tried adding the notebook to the domain again.
This time I was successfull and I was back on with all connectivity Perfect
right?
Yes and No.
Now I have in my Network Places three sets of Icons
1 WORKGROUP
2.MSHOME
3 THE DOMAIN
Question is:
How do I get rid of the other two workgroups and just keep the domain?
Sorry for all this I been working on this for a while now.

Thanks
Joe

The other two workgroups should vanish on their own over time, when the
network can no longer see and enumerate them. If you wanted to hurry the
process you could shut down all the PCs on the network, then restart the DC,
then restart the PCs.
