I have decided that I am going to stick with XP and Office 2000 for as long
as I can. These versions are just not what I would call woth an upgrade.

And you have posted bugs on the problems you found, Right?

In any case, an upgrade to Vista is usually not right.
Most have no need to upgrade to a new operating system unless hardware or
software they need demands the upgrade.
This is not new and has always applied whenever a new operating system is
released.
The same goes for new hardware and software for any source, stay where you
are until something drives the change.

Instead it is best for most to wait until a new computer is needed.

As what Jupiter has said is correct. There is no need to upgrade an
operating system unless you have a specific need to do so. By that time any
bugs in the software will have been fixed. I have submitted plenty of bug
reports in Vista which I hope will be addressed. I encourage everyone else
to do the same. The date for the software to release to manufacturer (RTM)
is coming soon.
