Are they any VB.NET tutorials for someone strong in another language, such
C++, Java, or even VB6? (As an example, "Java in Plain English" by Overland
& Morrison, related syntax & idioms to what is used in C++. Something like
that for VB.NET would be great.)

I like the .NET Framework SDK Quickstart Tutorials.

Believe it or not, going from VB 6 to VB.NET may actually be harder than
going from the languages you mentioned. This is because some basic elements
of the language have stayed the same which can lead you into a false sense
or security that not much has changed, when in fact, much has changed.

If one has a strong programming background, picking up VB .NET should not be
difficult with a direct attack.

One might start with the MSFT Press VB .NET step by step book.
Move on to the MSFT Press VB .NET book by Francesco Balena.
Also, tho it applies to VB , not VB .Net, Morrison's C++ for VB Programmers
from Apress might help.

Thanks Scott. That is what a hiring mgr, at a recent interview alluded to.
Checking Amazon.com, there doesn't appear to be any books out there, that
approach it from that angle.

Thanks Howard, I check into books.

Interesting you saw my posting.
Posting did not show up here and I am using the MSFT newsserver directly.

I'm using GigaNews, through Comcast. Though delays of posts are common,
they have never been that long.
