I have been getting a lot of spam that consists of a picture with the
spam message and then a bunch of nonsense below it. I have tried
blocking senders, but the list is starting to get long. There is no
real way in OE6 to filter out this kind of crap. Is there a program
that recognizes this junk and eliminates it. I recognize these and
could just delete them but want somethign so that I will not have to go
through the trouble of inspecting and or blocking senders. Would
prefer a freeware solution and dang it that is now something more that
I will need to be running in the background.

Thanks

You could ask your ISP if they provide such a service - mine does.
Or you could Google and search for such a programme, but not all will stop
the .gif type of spam - also look for reviews of these programmes.
This one is oft mentioned in the newsgroups.

I recommend one of these two:

K9: http://keir.net/k9.html
POPFile: http://popfile.sourceforge.net/

I don't care for MailWasher. The interface is clunky, and, even though
it is now disabled, the "bounce" feature is sill there, and still touted
by the author, and some clueless users still think this is a _good_
thing. Even though it violates most ISP AUP/TOS aggreements (by
impersonating an official ISP server), and is detectable as a fraudulent
"bounce", thus verifying that the email address _is_ good. I have
received MW bounces, and I have sent email to those supposedly bad email
addresses.
