with that limitation...

As any Smarttool have some Issues (smartctl wont detect USB-Drives) try
it simply out,if it works for you.

If it is a OS software stripe then certainly yes. If it is a hardware
or hardware assisted stripe than probably no. (The faq says yes to
scsi raid and no to ata raid but with better raid support for both
forthcoming.) It might work but most of these programs have problems
with this type of thing (AFIK). FW raid that comes with decent
management SW is usually the best bet.
