I remember using a pop type thing when I worked for a large company. We could send messages to other users on our network if we knew the name of their computer. It worked like messenger, but without using the internet. How can I make that work? It would be very helpful at my job. We use a mix of XP professional and XP home. Thank you!

You can use NET SEND from the command prompt. NET SEND computername or NET
SEND username should work.

Note that spammers have been using this technique lately to advertise to
people without their permission, so you may find some users have turned off
this capability in their copy of windows. You'd be better off using winchat
(yes, it still exists in WinXP!) or some other instant messaging service.
