anyone have any good PC cases?? thanks for the help

I like the case I have.
Got it for about $70 US down at Computer Renaissance.
What I like most about it is the hole in the side ....
A hole with a duct attached.
The duct fits over the CPU fan and heatsink; thus bringing in cool air
from outside the case instead of the same hot air all the other devices
have to put up with. This lowers the CPU temperature considerably.

Having an *exhaust* fan near the CPU to push out the heated air also
helps.

I also have a very *pretty* acrylic case, and some pretty green lights
to spiff it up with. Haven't gotten around to actually using it yet
though. Looked really nice in the store ....

I like cases that take the larger 120mm fans, have convenient USB
ports in the front, and a simple appearance. Antec makes good
inexpensive cases. I build my own custom wooden base with wheels
which lifts the case slightly off the floor for less dust and easier
cleaning/maintenance.

Well after reading this thread I starting reading up on the Antec
P180, and read a review for it.

Here is the conclusion page for the review.
http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=6012&page=7

After reading that through fully, I realised it has some flaws which
might be a pain for someone like me who hasn't been in PC building
very long. It's also a rather large beast.

Phisherman suggested that Antec make good cases, so I started looking
around for some more Antec cases. I came across an "Antec Solo Midi
Tower" http://www.thecoolingshop.com/product_info.php?products_id=2326

I was very impressed. It has space for a larger 120mm fan (just how
Phisherman wanted it ;) TWO lower intake fans (as John Doe suggested),
and it has sound proofing. As well as front mounted ports, and some
rather nice options for mounting your drives.

Here is page 3 of the XSReview, as I feel it gives the best pictures
all on one page.

Page 4 also gives you information about the drive mounting options.
Page 5 is a conclusion. And in case you want to start at the
beginning, page 1 + 2 give you some history about Antec and a first
impression of the outside of the case.

Take your pick!

Yes, my old case was an Inwin, beige, I am not really on board with all
black. I looked at cases at a store because I wanted to make sure they were
large enough. I finally got the P180 with silver (dull) like panels
outside.

The large 180 mm fans really cool the MB big time. With the Inwin, the MB
was around 31 or 32c. With the Antec, it stays around 24c.

I also like them. I have the Antec P180 modded for liquid cooling by
Swiftech (labeled as Quiet Power) and it is great. It is about as silent as
it gets.

All good cases. I don't build much, but have used Enermax (good), Irwin
(fair), and my current Cooler Master (great).

Roswill silent PSU, big fan with variable speed, very quiet.

With all due respect, why bother with a P180 if you're going to liquid
cool?

It's a fantastic case, specifically built to optimize airflow, I would
think you could do much better, without some of the P180's limits, if
you didn't care about airflow.

I can't say I'd go near it myself, the location of the drives and not
nearly enough clearance between the power supply and motherboard.

That being said, if you're building the machine and not tinkering down
the road, it will probably do the trick.

I also would not touch a toolless anything, although perhaps I've had
bad experiences here previously.

Not to get off the subject but is Rosewell a good PS??

One of the best!

i am spending abotu 1200 on my computer all together, ( not including
shipping) for all my items i wan to order, thanks for the help heres
the list of everything im going to use
Motherboard:Fata1ty AN9

The P180's size and construction is almost made for a liquid cooling system.
The radiator fits in the rear-top, water pump in the bottom tunnel and tank
just behind the top HDD tray. It still has the large (120mm??) quiet fans
and they work great for cooling the rest of the components. I just liquid
cool the processor right now because everything else is so quiet. Even the
two 8800 GTX cards are extremely quiet.

I'm not familiar with that motherboard, or XFX cards in general, so I
can't speak to that combination.

Memory wise, what operating system? If you're staying in the 32-bit
world, you'll likely be limited to ~3.2GB-3.5GB (or less, depending on
motherboard architecture) of usable RAM. Not necessarily a problem, but
it's something to research before purchasing 4GB of RAM.

My motherboard needs reserves around 400MB of address space for itself,
so when you add that to the two 512MB video cards I have, I can barely
use over 2.5GB.

Second, I'd stay away from the Raptor series of drives, look at
something like the ST3400620AS instead. This drive will outperform the
Raptors under most real-world circumstances due to the substantially
higher density of the bits (in other words, create a 74GB partition and
you'll find it actually seeks within that 74GB faster then the Raptor),
plus the ST3400620AS actually supports NCQ (which fails to actually work
on the Raptor)

The Raptor drives are good in theory, but in my own experience, modern
7200rpm drives out perform the Raptors at a fraction of the cost, heat,
and noise.

Interesting -- I wouldn't bother with liquid cooling until it could cool
practically everything. Makes sense though, with that approach :)
