I have a Creative Labs Web Cam Live which doesn't work with Vista. As I
bought it AFTER Vista had been released, I didn't bother to check to see if
it would work with Vista but, now that I've installed Vista, I find it
doesn't and Creative Labs has no plans on issuing a driver for it.

So, I still want a web cam but want to give someone else my business BUT as
I've always had Creative Labs cams, I know nothing about any of the others.
Can/will any of you offer a suggestion or two as to a good quality web cam?
It doesn't have to be a studio quality camera...simply good enough for the
chats with my kids and grandkids so I want decent video without jumping or
pixelling but I don't need special effects, zoom etc.

Thanks,
Tim

Based on all the posts in the last 2 months, I would stay away from Creative
products. Their programmers seem to be having a hard time releasing decent
Vista drivers. On the webcam, I'm using Logitech's Quickcam Ultravision -
works fine with their Vista driver up on their website (using Vista ultimate
32 bit)

I'd say to avoid anything by Logitech. They've had a problem with their
drivers for MONTHS where your PC won't boot Windows if the cam is plugged
in. Logitech still won't acknowledge the issue, but one look in there forums
shows a lot of folks having this issue.

I have a newer Creative Web Cam and it works great. Vista assigned generic
drivers to the web cam when I installed the OS. However I can't do some of
the Creative driver specific functions such as zoom.

Running Logitech's quickcam ultra on Vista business and having no
problems...This is my fourth Logitech camera on my third op system
(ME,,xp,,Vista)..Never had a bit of trouble with any Logitech product on any
of my systems..Whether it is a keyboard,,,mouse,,camera,,,game controllers
or speakers...Just never had a problem....By the way I still have all those
cameras and use them on other computers that my family have......Just my 2
cents...Have a better day !!!

When you state something like that you should post supporting documentation.
Until then it is opinion, not fact.

My Logitech Webcam is plugged in constantly and I boot into Windows without
any problems.

Logitech Quickcam 4000 works fine under Vista with latest driver. Even
applications are working fine now.
