I am looking for a macro package, perhaps like Macro Express
http://www.macros.com/ which can read values sequentially from an excel
spreadsheet or .csv or .psv file and copy and paste them one-by-one into
a bespoke application, and automatically tell that bespoke application
to process each using its normal GUI, before moving on to the next item
on the spreadsheet and doing the same.

I want to bulk-update a lot of records in a DB using the normal client
front-end.

I suspect macro express can do this, but does anyone know for sure?
(I have a trial copy, but it is complex, not very well documented in
this regard and I am wondering if I am barking up the wrong tree).

Any recommendations? needs to run in Windows XP.

Anthony,

Assuming you are talking about a MS Access database...

First of all, the concept of a macro in Access is quite different from
the concept of a macro as used by the software you indicated.

But in any case, I would expect, based on the information you gave so
far, that it would be a lot simpler to use Access macros, or VBA
procedures within the Access environment, to achieve want you want,
probably based on the use of Append Queries.

Is that entirely because you're a "Microsoft Access MVP" or did you deduce
it from something in the OP's message...?!

How would that work with the bespoke application?
