I started working with vb.NET on my 256 RAM , 2.0 GB machine on windows 2000
pro, service pack 4 . it was really slow and so I upgraded the RAM to 512 MB
RAM, which is much better but still not the same or any where close to how it
is when I open up VB 6.0 . Could some one tell me what kind of machine
configuration should I have for VB.net to load equally faster.

Sameer,

For you anything in the hardware in this, do you have VS2002 or VS2003 in my
opinion loads the last faster and more reliable.

However probably not as fast as the single language VB6 IDE, however I don't
remember me that anymore.

thanks for your reply Cor. I have VS 2003. i find it pretty hard to work with
this kind of slow speed specially after comming from Visual Basic 6
environment. Any more suggestions out there about a decent configuration for
a machine to work on VS2003??

Hi Sameer

I use both a Dell desktop 3.0 GHz P4 with 512 Mb RAM and a Dell 3.0 GHz P4
laptop with 512 MB, both with XP Pro and VS2003.

The desktop is fast enough, but the laptop flies along, but then there is
hardly anything else on it. I think what that means is that it is not just
the spec of the m/c, but what else is clogging it up. When I open Add/Remove
programs on my desktop it takes >30 seconds to open. I suspect if I
re-installed the o/s the desktop m/c would fly too.

Sameer,

I could not see what kind of processor you have, or maybe I mistread
something?
