Good idea to wait to get SP2?

So far I have seen comments that SP2 interferes with some applications, but
this was expected so we go with it. But what I'm watching for is if it has
bugs that will be fixed. In other words is there likely to be an SP2.1,
SP2.2 etc, and would it be a good idea to wait a while before loading it in?
 
Hi,

They don't release Service Packs in .1, .2, etc releases. The only reason
for SP1a is that Microsoft was required to remove the included Virtual
Machine. The "a" was to distinguish this. Until SP3 is released, the interim
will likely continue to include regular critical updates.

SP2 is a major upgrade from SP1,if you run mostly all microsoft software,
youll be fine with the current release,or the "official" release do soon,the
only snags will be with 3rd party software,they need some time to re-write
thier software.

HUH?!? Your level of moronic cretinism never ceases to amaze me (though it
should by now!) I'm running legacy apps written for 3.1 under XP with SP2
and they work flawlessly. There are *NO* "snags with third party software".
The word is 'due' by the way, not 'do'. Oh and, it was released four days
ago - *do* keep up!

If a program has been coded properly, it will run properly. No software
needs to be rewritten if it's been written correctly in the first place.

It's always possible, but I've had it on two machines here since
August 7, and haven't experienced any problems.

All software, except for the trivial, has bugs. Some are minor,
some are more major. SP2 has already gone through extensive
testing, and the risk of major bugs at this point is probably
small (but not zero).

Service packs don't get numbered that way. If fixes are needed,
they'll come out as hotfixes.

The thought that it's good to "wait a while" is good advice for
lots of updates and new software releases, but *not* when it
comes to security patches, like SP2.

Besides, we've already waited a while; we've waited through the
extensive beta testing it's received; that's the purpose of such
testing: to ensure that any major problems are eliminated before
the actual release. I would install it now.

Don't tax your brancell, but it was released to manufacturers 10 days ago at
the time of your post, and 8 days ago to anyone who wanted it. *Do* keep
