I was going to start planning to build my first PC (a high end gaming
rig) within the month or 2. I've been on a bit of a technology hiatus
prior, and went out and bought a preconfigured PC from
cyberpowerpc.com which is now in transit back to them (thank god for
their 30 day gntee).
Since the last couple days I've found out that Core 2 Duo performs
better than AMD and that Quad Cores are out but nothing yet really
supports them.
Also there is DDR3 that just came out and selling at a premium.
Then there is the geforce 8800's which are still selling at a premium,
which i think come december should have somewhat of a decent price
decrease.
So to me, instead of shelling out a grand to build a sytem now, it
would seem to make more sense to wait 6 months and get more out of
that grand. Of course, at that time, I could wait another 6 months,
and another 6 months, ad infinitum but I eventually do want a new
computer ; )
So I think if any time is a good time, 6 months would be perfect -
more DX10 support as far as graphics cards and competition, hopefully,
plus prices will hopefully drop on DDR3 (a bit) and Quad Cores and
maybe mb's.
Sound like a good plan?
