Good Grief...IE6 problems

I have recently started having problems with IE6 on both my home & office
computers.

I run Spysweeper, SpyBot and Ad Aware all the time...

On one computer Java runtime environment errors consistently crash IE so it
is unstable.

On the other computer I cannot open a new window. The new window freezes
and nothing happens.

All was fine until SP2 was installed....I have quit using IE and am giving
FireFox a go...all seems well.

I will continue to monitor this ng until I see a solution to all these IE
problems and can fix mine. I have used and have been generally pleased with
MS products for a long time but this time I am not a happy customer as I
don't have the time to fix these 'problems' as I need to earn a living.

Do you consistently update Spybot and Ad-Aware before using them?

Yes, all the time. I just did it today as a matter of fact and again IE
froze when a second window tried to open.

I checked the registry entry that allows a second window to be opened under
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\] and it was set to
ALLOW so I don't really know what is causing that problem. It is
frustrating becasue many websites open a second window from internal links
to show you info on items etc...

SP2 does have problems with some spyware that did not cause problems for
SP1.
Go to: http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm
Download "Hijack This!" [freeware]

Unzip, double-click "HijackThis.exe" and Press "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button.
Click: "Save Log" (generates: "hijackthis.log")

Next, go to the below location:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/forums/

Sign in, go to the "Spyware and Hijackware Removal" section.
Press "New Topic" and post a description of your symptoms. If they need to
see your log they will ask for it.
