Hello. Can someone suggest a good firewall that does not conflict with XP
home? Norton's firewall conflicts all over the place! I really want to keep
security up on this computer. Any help would be appreciated!
Thank you in advance,
Kathy

Hey Kathy

PC World conducted very thorough tests and evaluations recently on several
anti-virus programs, several anti-spyware programs, and several firewall
programs. ZoneAlarm is the short answer, but reading the article might
reveal some other surprises. You can find the article at

http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/article/0,aid,115939,pg,1,00.asp

XP has a built-in feature, but it does not stop unauthorized Outbound
breaches of security.

For a free program try Zone Alarm. The free version doesn't do everything I
would like, but for free it does a great job.
However, based on your post I would guess that you have something set wrong
for Norton to "conflicts all over the place!". If you do, using a different
program could end up with the same results.
Hope this helps.

I really appreciate your input. I will do just that. I will also read the
article you recommend! Thanks!!!

Thank you, Steve. I will load zone alarm but will try to reconfigure Norton
first.
I appreciate your help!!

For a free program try Zone Alarm.

I started with ZA, but moved to Kerio a while back, and have been
happier (less hassles, less mandatory upgrades) with that.

There's also a free one from SyGate which nags a bit, and one called
Outpost that's been well-rated, but I haven't tried it myself.
