Good antivirus for Win98

I'm looking for the best freeware antivirus for Win98. I know most
people use AVG (Grisoft) or AVAST! (Awil), but neither has passed the
virus bulletin test recently **for the Win98 OS** (though both passed
for XP OS). If I'm not mistaken, both are endorsed by ISCA, but are they
endorsed for the Win98 OS?

As far as I can tell, the last time AVG passed for Win98 was in June
2003. I don't know if it hasn't been tested on Win98 since then, or if
it just hasn't passed since then. Anyone?

TIA!

I have used it on many computers with OS's from win95 to XP pro and
have had no complaints from any of my customers.
Since win98 is no longer supported by Microsoft, or will not be soon,
I doubt that they will be testing for that OS for long.
I would and do recommend it to all my customers for all OS;s

There's Sygate and Kerio, both of which are excellent aplications. Then
of course Zone Alarm.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

The scan engine of both versions is the same. Thus, if it passes for XP,
you can use it on 98 as well.
As you tought yourself, Windows 98 was probably just replaced by XP as
testing ground.

If you are just going to use the VBA awards as a guide to which AV to get , then you will be changing your AV every month .Even the great kaspersky has failed many times.Unless you are a subscriber to VBA you wont know the full details on why An AV passed or failed.Heres an intresting example of what i mean...

Most users of freeware choose either avg ,avast or antivir. You can use avg and avst on the same system as long as you are not using both as resident scanners.I use avast as a main resident scaner and use AVG on demand.

Windows 98 is now an end of life product. It's been on limited support
from Microsoft since June and all support from MS ceases from 16th
January - next week. after that you'll no longer be ble to use Windows
Update. Consequently as a result, many software vendors and also sites
such as the VB one, will also stop bothering with it.

Thanks to all for the input. Looks like I'll go with one of the "ole
standards" and not worry too much about it. [I practice Safe Hex
anyway..]. ;)
