Hello, my name is Anthony and I've come into your life to give you good advice :)

My first piece of advice, which you will ignore at your peril, is always vacum clean the dust from your case fans at least once a day.

I will be back at regular intervals to give you more good advice.

Once a day Flopp's bit over the top Innit...unfortunately my lifestyle doesn't give me enough time to get the hoover out every day, I'm lucky if I get the hoover out once a month...:D

By the way I take it that is you in the photo in your shorts aged about ten by the looks of it..

My good man, don't scorn good advice, I am only here to help you.

My cousin, Lord Fauntleroy, once ignored me and he was chewed to death by the fifth Wiltshire Hunt hounds.

Soon, I will give you more advice, be grateful :)

LOL

Im sure HOOVER would be pleased you are using their name instead of another specific manufacturer ;)

Sorry just being Obtuse hehe

I havn't cleaned mine out in nearly 7 months, and the one downstairs (an HP :eek) hasn't been opened since I stuck a new soundcard in it over a year ago.

Then again, I really do live on the edge you know :D

I take the Dyson and a can of air to my pc about once every two weeks or so, but then i'm a bit of a clean freak when it comes to my pc. :D

And before you say anything about static, pc's and hoovers, its a total myth imo, been doing it for years without a problem. Last time i checked the static dont travel down the plastic pipe and nozzle/attachment thing. ;)

I give the PC a clean with the hoover every so often, perhaps once a month - there isn't much dust inside it so it should be ok :) I've seen some really, really, really filthy ones in my time... I couldn't even see the motherboard on one PC, it was just a bed of thing dust (it still worked though!).

Anthony is pleased to see you all heeding his advice :)

And today's advice is:

Don't buy USB leads from PC World or Staples, they cost fifty guineas there.

Buy them elsewhere for £1.50.

You know it makes sense :thumb:

I can figure out the pounds...but whats a guineas??????

I know New Guinea, my Dad fought there in WW2, Buna campaign.

In the old days we had Pounds , Shillings and Pence . !2 pence to a shilling , 20 shillings to a pound and rich gits had guinieas which were worth one pound and one shilling .
Rich gits often dressed their children in shorts and bow ties and encouraged them to become geeks .

:p

The guinea coin of 1663 was the first British machine-struck gold coin. The coin was originally worth one pound, which was twenty shillings; but rises in the price of gold caused the value of the guinea to increase, at times as high as thirty shillings. The name, which was an unofficial name for the coin, came from Guinea in Africa, where much of the gold used to make the coins originated.

Although the coin is no longer current, the term guinea survives in some circles, notably horse racing and in the sale of rams, to mean an amount of one pound and five pence in decimalised currency (equivalent to 21 shillings).

I always buy my USB leads from Tesco's - Tesco value USB leads.

And I only clean out my computer fans when my computer overheats (very rare as it never has its sides on.)

Or when strange noises start being emitted from the innards...

Thanks Baron Floppy.
Have cleaned it today..and am watching that airborne destructive compound (like a still night paratrooper) LANDING on my defencive outer casing fan..wow good advice if ever i have seen ..company at the ready..on the orders of the fresh looking short panted one...

At ease..was only a feather ...
(hope they have an early warning siren in the cutty ) things might get out of control :)

I think once a day is too much too once every two weeks i do mine,i used to just stick the hose on the fan and listen to the helicopter noise until someone told me to hold the fan blades as they are not supoossed to turn that fast and it screws them up.

Advice noted m'Lud
& all traces of liquid fertilizer duely removed from the vicinity of my laptop
