Hello!

I have a friend whose two computers have NVIDIA cards that he wants to
upgrade. They are the GeForce FX 5700LE and FX 6200. I believe he only has
AGP and not PCIe.

If he has to stick with AGP, can you recommend a fast card under $250?

In general, who makes a better gaming card, NVIDIA or ATI?

Thank you!

Try taking a look at the following site

www.tomshardware.co.uk

has lost of info on cpu's video cards, motherboards etc.

I seem to recall there has recently been a feature on best video cards at
certain prices and also about agp cards.

Thank you!

some chip manufacturers collaborate with the game
manufacturers in which case their performance on that
game can't be beat.

ALL hings being equal, I would much rather have an ATI
card since its driver has fewer updates which install
much easier and their card's software extensions
(extended desktop, window memory,..) all work when you
buy the card. That could not be said for nVideo cards
three years ago which was the last time I had one and
is the last one I will ever own.

Any advise is my attempt to contribute more than I have received but I can only assure you that it works on my PC. GOOD LUCK.

AFAIK both Nvida and ATI release driver packages every month.

On some specific applications or games there will be a difference, but on
average I doubt anyone could tell the difference.
I have owned both with no vivid memories of disaster.

Funny, I've been saying the exact same thing for years now, only about ATI.
I still find ATI installs way too much crapware that's always in your face.

I agree with u. Its hard to tell what's needed & what is crapware(ie
hydrovision) All vchip sites must have been designed by 12yo gamers-
no ability to empathize & no organizational skills at all.

Just my 2¢ worth. Larry
