Going to the wrong websites

I've had this problem for awhile, basically, I'm running Windows XP and Internet Explorer 6. This computer is also networked to another so the other computer can have internet access.

The problem is that sometimes, when you try to go to websites, at random times it will just go to a completely different site that was visited before. For example, if I were to type in www.microsoft.com, surf around there, decide to go to a couple of sites afterwards, then after that i wanted to go to google, i'd type in www.google.com and then it would go to microsoft's site for no reason

Is there any solution to this? I've cleaned the cookies and the temp internet files several times, and ran a virus scanner, and scanned for Spyware...

Search your hd for a file named HOSTS (no extension, and may be hidden). Open
with any plain-text editor (such as Notepad) and delete any lines containing
reference to the websites you are having trouble with.

Save the file, restart IE, and you should be good to go.

Can you get to the correct site if you add http:// in front of the www.....?
