Steve

I've posted this question before, but to no avail. Either no one has a clue
what might be causing this or else there is a conspiracy afoot that I'm not
privy to. .....or perhaps I'm not providing enough information. Anyone have
any idea what might be causing this problem? The frequency is
increasing.Here is my post:

I'm running windows XP pro.

Lately, I frequently get the message "windows explorer has encountered a
problem and needs to shut down. Please tell Microsoft about this problem". I
dutifully tell Microsoft, using the error reporting window. The icons and
taskbar then disappear and sluggishly rebuild themselves, leaving me hanging
while the system heals it's mysterious problem.

I've run virus scans, rebooted, performed a variety of arcane rituals (some
requiring nudity, but rarely bloodletting) and have even tried cursing the
wretched box........... but all to no avail.

This nastiness is increasing in frequency and seems to occur primarily when
I'm browsing picture files. Any help in this regard would be greatly
appreciated.

Hey Steve,

Have you tried switching your fold settings to show in
thumbnail, rather than slideshow? I've run into the same
problem, but only when viewing in slideshow. Does it
happen when the folder is showing, or when you are using
picture/fax viewer?

Don't mind the wiseass answers. Some people get their
kicks on this board.

Best,

Richard

Thanks for the useful suggestion. I think this may be the case and will
switch to thumbnail or list view straightaway and see if that helps. -Steve
