Is there anything I need to do, to make my image's go from the eval copy to
real licensed version or is this a automatic process? Are there any hidden
tricks?

Thanks

I co-authored that paper when I worked there... I have subsequently left...
I am still friends with those guys, and just sent an email asking them to
publish the rest of it...

hopefully they will... or release me to publish it.. .meantime, you can feel
free to let me know what you need to know, and I can answer questions...
Part 2 talks about backing everything up, and uninstalling the tools... you
need to make especially sure you get at least your components that you made
yourselves, including the repositories, and of course the SLX file. then
re-install all the tools, and re-import your custom components in to the
Component Database. once they are in there, you can open you SLX file in TD,
and do an "upgrade configuration" so that it will update the components from
the non-eval database. best to not let it autoresolve, as you stand the
potential to duplicate stuff... let it give you the list, and you can check
them off one at a time... it's a pain, but this is the best way I have been
able to make it work... MS did not provide an upgrade tool for doing this,
hence the whitepaper. :-)

Hi JC,

I have a eval XPE now, and I found out the every image I created will have a
message "Windows XP Embedded. Evaluation Copy. Build 2600" at the right
bottom corner of the desktop. Does the full version XPE will have this
message? How can I get rid of this message?

Thanks.

The message will go away when you purchase run-time licenses and enter your
Product ID (PID) in Target Designer.
