I would like to go back to Windows Movie Maker 1, and have read on "PapaJohns" website that all I need to do is copy the original moviemk.exe from my Windows XP CD to the Movie Maker directory, since I still have the original .dll files. My inquiry is regarding how to find the original .exe file on the CD.

I tried inserting it, clicking "Perform Additional Tasks" > "Browse This CD," but the moviemk.exe file was nowhere to be found.

Am I going about this the wrong way? Perhaps someone can instruct me on how to find this file on the CD, or somewhere I could download the original executable.

Thanks in advance!

The easiest way has been to find a computer that hasn't upgraded to MM2 and copy the main .exe to yours via a floppy.... it's less than a meg in size

That might be getting harder to do, as more computers have or come with MM2.... I'm on the road now and can't. But maybe you can ask someone to email a copy to you

Could be the file your looking for is not a separate file on the XP CD but
is included in one of the .CAB files. To find it you would have to go
through each .CAB file and see what it includes then you could extract it.
